Next weekend is Good Shepherd Sunday, traditionally the day of the Annual Appeal for the Archdiocesan Priests’ Training Fund. Archbishop Mark, having appointed Fr. Matthew RocheSaunders as the Director of Priestly Vocations and Youth Mission, has broadened the scope of the collection to become a Priest Training and Discipleship Appeal. Archbishop Mark says: “The intention is to engage young people and promote vocations simultaneously. By the same token, donations to the new Appeal will support seminarians and the work of growing vocations to the priesthood and religious life. It will also build a culture of vocation and discipleship which includes developing our youth ministry, catechetical formation, leadership training, and other evangelisation initiatives. I believe it is through fostering such a culture among the young and not so young that more priestly vocations will come forward.”
