You are invited to sign a worldwide Church petition about a debt crisis that is affecting the world’s poorest countries. Father Charlie Chilufya, a priest based in Kenya, has sent a letter to parishes in England and Wales, saying: “Dear brothers and sisters, Greetings from the Archdiocese of Nairobi in this Jubilee Year. 54 countries are facing a devastating debt crisis. Kenya is one of them, currently spending five times as much on repaying foreign debts as it spends on hospitals and doctors. For countries like Kenya, this is not a choice.” Often, countries have repaid their original debt several times over, but the debt will never be cleared because the interest keeps growing. This is having a devastating impact on ordinary people. Pope Francis called for action on this debt crisis many times over the last year. Please sign the petition online, using this link: https://bit.ly/4jHK4OD . The petition is being signed by people in Catholic parishes all over the world. Thank you.
