Second Collection for Mary’s Meals next weekend

Mary’s Meals operates extensively in areas of conflict and crisis, delivering school meals in some of the world’s most dangerous and challenging locations. We serve some of the world’s most vulnerable children, those hardest to reach, who might otherwise be forgotten.
The promise of a nutritious meal helps to bring children living in fragile and crisis-affected areas into the safety of the classroom, providing them with a sanctuary from the chaos around them where they can learn, play and simply be children.
Mary’s Meals is a personal and powerful way to transform the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
A donation of £19.15 will provide a child with food, safety and hope for a whole school year.

Baptism Preparation Course The next Baptism Preparation Course takes place at St. Brigid’s Church on Saturday, September 19th and completes on Saturday, September 26th at 3pm. Both sessions will last around an hour. All those who wish to have their child baptised need to attend the course before the Baptism. RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults • Are you someone without a formal religion who wants to be baptised in the Catholic faith? • Are you a Christian from another faith tradition who would like to be received into the Catholic Church? • Are you an interested inquirer who wants to find out more about the Catholic Faith? • Are you an adult who has missed out on the Sacrament of Confirmation? If any of the above applies to you, you are most welcome to join the Parish Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) programme which will run in the Parish Hall at St. Teilo’s on Wednesday evenings at 6pm beginning on Wednesday, October 7th . Please come along and discover more. Attendance does not commit you to completing the programme but is designed to allow you to reflect on God’s call for you. (The Parish Hall is accessed from the back of the Church building, between the Church and the Priest’s House.) Enrolment forms for the RCIA programme are now available at the back of both Churches.
All parishioners aged 18 to 30 (on July 28th 2027) are invited to join Archbishop Mark and a group from the Archdiocese heading to next summer’s World Youth Day in Seoul, South Korea. With Pope Leo and a million other young Catholics, the attendees will enjoy a full schedule of activities and formation, in a country with a vibrant and growing Catholic community. There will also be opportunities to meet up before we travel. The dates of the trip are July 28th to August 9th 2027, and the cost is £1,500 per person plus the cost of flights which are to be confirmed and are expected to be in the region of £800 to £1200. As is usual at this time of the year, Canon John will be on leave for the next three weeks and will then be in Lourdes for a week as the Chaplain to the HCPT pilgrimage. No Weekday Mass With Canon away for the next few weeks, there will be no weekday Mass at St. Teilo’s and Our Lady of Lourdes. St. Teilo’s will be open each day for people to spend time in private prayer. Many thanks to the small group of volunteers who are facilitating the Church opening by agreeing to open and lock the Church each day. Weekday Mass is available in our neighbouring churches: Nazareth House (access to the chapel is through the door on Colum Road, lift assisted access is via the convent entrance) – Mass is celebrated at 10am at Nazareth House on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. (No Mass on Wednesday). St. Joseph’s – Mass is celebrated at St. Joseph’s at 9.15am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 7pm on Wednesday. The Three Churches – Mass is celebrated in the 3 churches as follows: Monday at 9.30am at St. Brigid’s, Tuesday at 9.30am at Christ the King, Wednesday at 9.30am at St. Paul’s, Thursday at 9.30am at Christ the King, Friday at 9.30am at St. Paul’s, Saturday at 9.30am at St. Brigid’s. St. Mary of the Angels and Holy Family – Mass is at 9.30am on Monday, Tuesday and Friday at St. Mary’s, at 6pm on Wednesday at St. Mary’s and at 9.30am on Thursday at Holy Family.
The Archdiocese is organising a day trip to St George's Cathedral, Southwark for the 'Adoremus' Eucharistic Congress on Saturday, October 10th. Coaches will travel from Swansea, Bridgend, Cardiff and Newport. The organising team is currently gathering expressions of interest from across the Archdiocese via an application form. Once we have collected interest, we will review the applications by deanery to ensure a fair distribution of places across the Archdiocese, and applicants will be contacted to confirm their places. The deadline for expressing an interest is Monday, September 7th . Key details: • Open to ages 16+; please note under 18's will be safeguarded by adults who have been DBS checked by the Archdiocese. • £40 per ticket, including transport. • Anyone not planning to return on the coach must make this clear on the form when applying. • Coach pick-up points and return points: Swansea, Bridgend, Cardiff, Newport. Rest in Peace Please pray for those who have died recently, especially Roger Goode, a long term parishioner of St. Teilo’s with Our Lady of Lourdes. Roger has lived more recently near his son in Miskin. Roger’s Funeral Mass will take place at All Hallows Church, Miskin on Thursday, September 3rd at midday. For the first three weekends Canon John is away, Fr. John Patrick Thomas will be celebrating Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes on Saturday evening and hearing confessions before Mass. Mgr. Reardon will be celebrating the two Sunday Masses at St. Teilo’s. We welcome them both as they lead us in our Sunday worship. On the final Sunday of September, while Canon is in Lourdes, a member of the Verona Fathers will celebrate all three weekend Masses and make the missionary appeal for the Comboni Missionaries (known more collegially as the Verona Fathers.

Walk and Talk The Walk and Talk group continues its weekly walks on Wednesday evenings at 6pm at the car park of the Lisvane and Llanishen Reservoirs, weather permitting.
The Parish indoor physical activity group resumes this Friday in the Hall at St. Teilo’s from 1pm to 2pm.
