Spread the Gospel – Developing a Missionary Parish (SGDMP)

I followed the SGDMP Programme back in 2021 and found it very impressive and worthwhile. That is why I have chosen it as something for the parish to follow during Lent this year. I hope that many of you will participate. The new Programme will remind participants of the Great Commission and the basic Gospel message. It will cover a rudimentary history of the early church and will consider important messages from recent papal papers, how to give witness testimonies, evangelise non-church going Catholics with practical approaches and tools for building a parish team to evangelise.


The SGDMP Programme is open to all parishioners. It will begin on Wednesday, March 1st in St. Teilo’s Church Hall at 7pm and take place each Wednesday during Lent with the last two sessions after Easter. The programme will be delivered by members of the Diocesan Evangelisation Commission and will involve a presentation from the team aided by small group discussions in breakout rooms in which people can freely share what they think and feel about the topic discussed in the teaching and what it says to them. Congratulations to Mel

Congratulations to Mel on his successful walk to the highest peak in the Sierra Nevada Earlier in the year, we appealed in the newsletter for support for Mel Hopkins, one of our parishioners, who was raising funds for Velindre Cancer Care by walking to the highest peak in the Sierra Nevada mountains in the Granada region of Spain. Baptism Preparation Course

Baptism Preparation Course The next Baptism Preparation Course takes place at Christ the King, Llanishen, on Saturday, July 4 th and completes on Saturday, July 11 th. Both sessions will last around an hour. All those who wish to have their child baptised need to attend the course before the Baptism. Reaching Out Volunteer Evening

The Reaching Out Project team is hosting a celebration evening for all Reaching Out Volunteers on Friday in St. Teilo’s Hall at 7pm, following the 6.30pm Mass. The team would like to thank all the parishioners for their generous contribution to the work of Reaching Out and to ask for continued support and prayer for the project as it continues to show the parish’s outreach to those who are in great need.

Mass on Tuesday

Please note that Mass at St. Teilo’s on Tuesday morning will be at the earlier time of 9am. This is due to an Archdiocesan Meeting of the Clergy with the Catholic Christian Outreach Mission team in Aberafan which begins at 10.30am that day.

Youth Pilgrimage to the Welsh National Shrine of Our Lady

On Saturday, July 18th there will be an Archdiocesan Pilgrimage for young people in Years 8 to 13 to Our Lady of the Taper, Cardigan - the Welsh National Shrine of Our Lady. There will be transport available. If you are interested in attending and want to book a place, please email: youth@cardiffmenevia.org or ring 029 2037 9490. Bookings must be confirmed by July 6th . The cost is £15 per person.

Local Vocals Concert at St. Teilo’s – June 30th

Coffee and Tea after Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes

First Saturday Devotions to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Saturday, July 4th, is the first Saturday of July. We will therefore celebrate the First Saturday devotions after the 10am Mass. There will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament during the devotions and confessions will be available. Why not come along to respond to Our Lady’s call to pray for the world?
