Clothes donations for the SVP – this Weekend The Parish St. Vincent De Paul (SVP) Conference undertakes a monthly collection of clothing for the SVP Charity Shop. Clean, good quality clothing, books and toys are welcome. Donations may be left outside the confessionals at the rear of St. Teilo’s next weekend, September 13th, and on the weekend of the Second Sunday of each month. Please ensure that donations are brought to the Church only on the specified Sundays, as we do not want the Church to become cluttered during the week. Thank you from the parish SVP.

Baptism Preparation Course The next Baptism Preparation Course takes place at St. Brigid’s Church on Saturday, September 19th and completes on Saturday, September 26th at 3pm. Both sessions will last around an hour. All those who wish to have their child baptised need to attend the course before the Baptism. This month’s craft session takes place in the Parish Hall at St. Teilo’s next Saturday, September 12th from 10.30am – 12.30pm . The session is suitable for absolute beginners to experts. RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults • Are you someone without a formal religion who wants to be baptised in the Catholic faith? • Are you a Christian from another faith tradition who would like to be received into the Catholic Church? • Are you an interested inquirer who wants to find out more about the Catholic Faith? • Are you an adult who has missed out on the Sacrament of Confirmation? If any of the above applies to you, you are most welcome to join the Parish Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) programme which will run in the Parish Hall at St. Teilo’s on Wednesday evenings at 6pm beginning on Wednesday, October 7th . Please come along and discover more. Attendance does not commit you to completing the programme but is designed to allow you to reflect on God’s call for you. (The Parish Hall is accessed from the back of the Church building, between the Church and the Priest’s House.) Enrolment forms for the RCIA programme are now available at the back of both Churches.

Walk and Talk As the days get shorter and the evenings darker the Walk and Talk group will change its time and venue. From Wednesday, September 9th onwards, the group will meet at the Scott Memorial Lighthouse, Roath Park at 5pm.

St. Teilo’s Friends of Divine Mercy Prayer Group meets on Saturday, September 8th at 2.30pm in the Parish Hall. Everyone is welcome to come along to pray for the parish and the intentions of the parishioners.

Mary’s Meals operates extensively in areas of conflict and crisis, delivering school meals in some of the world’s most dangerous and challenging locations. We serve some of the world’s most vulnerable children, those hardest to reach, who might otherwise be forgotten. The promise of a nutritious meal helps to bring children living in fragile and crisis-affected areas into the safety of the classroom, providing them with a sanctuary from the chaos around them where they can learn, play and simply be children. Mary’s Meals is a personal and powerful way to transform the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable children. A donation of £19.15 will provide a child with food, safety and hope for a whole school year. We are so grateful for everything you do to help us reach hungry children with our nutritious school meals, as we continue to: REACH OUT from St. Teilo’s with Our Lady of Lourdes. The Parish Rosary Prayer Group normally meets on the last Thursday of each month at 2.00pm in Ty Mair, 19 Heol y Waun CF14 1LB at the junction of Heol Gabriel and College Road. ( Please note, that due to holidays the group will meet a week early this month ) The group members have intercessory prayer, read and discuss the following Sunday's Gospel, pray the Rosary, pray the 3 o'clock prayer and the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and have a cuppa!  The next meeting takes place on Thursday, September 17th . All are welcome to attend.

As is usual at this time of the year, Canon John will be on leave for the next three weeks and will then be in Lourdes for a week as the Chaplain to the HCPT pilgrimage. No Weekday Mass With Canon away for the next few weeks, there will be no weekday Mass at St. Teilo’s and Our Lady of Lourdes. St. Teilo’s will be open each day for people to spend time in private prayer. Many thanks to the small group of volunteers who are facilitating the Church opening by agreeing to open and lock the Church each day. Weekday Mass is available in our neighbouring churches: Nazareth House (access to the chapel is through the door on Colum Road, lift assisted access is via the convent entrance) – Mass is celebrated at 10am at Nazareth House on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. (No Mass on Wednesday). St. Joseph’s – Mass is celebrated at St. Joseph’s at 9.15am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 7pm on Wednesday. The Three Churches – Mass is celebrated in the 3 churches as follows: Monday at 9.30am at St. Brigid’s, Tuesday at 9.30am at Christ the King, Wednesday at 9.30am at St. Paul’s, Thursday at 9.30am at Christ the King, Friday at 9.30am at St. Paul’s, Saturday at 9.30am at St. Brigid’s. St. Mary of the Angels and Holy Family – Mass is at 9.30am on Monday, Tuesday and Friday at St. Mary’s, at 6pm on Wednesday at St. Mary’s and at 9.30am on Thursday at Holy Family.
