Youth Pilgrimage to the Welsh National Shrine of Our Lady

Saturday, July 18th there will be an Archdiocesan Pilgrimage for young people in Years 8 to 13 to Our Lady of the Taper, Cardigan - the Welsh National Shrine of Our Lady. There will be transport available. If you are interested in attending and want to book a place, please email:

Clothes donations for the SVP – this Weekend The Parish St. Vincent De Paul (SVP) Conference undertakes a monthly collection of clothing for the SVP Charity Shop. Clean, good quality clothing, books and toys are very welcome. Donations may be left outside the confessionals at the rear of St. Teilo’s this weekend. The clothes will be removed early on Monday morning, so please ensure that donations are brought to the Church by the end of the evening Mass this weekend or kept at home until the Second Sunday of October when we will have another collection. Baptism Preparation Course The next Baptism Preparation Course takes place at St. Brigid’s Church on Saturday, September 19th and completes on Saturday, September 26th at 3pm. Both sessions will last around an hour. All those who wish to have their child baptised need to attend the course before the Baptism. RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults • Are you someone without a formal religion who wants to be baptised in the Catholic faith? • Are you a Christian from another faith tradition who would like to be received into the Catholic Church? • Are you an interested inquirer who wants to find out more about the Catholic Faith? • Are you an adult who has missed out on the Sacrament of Confirmation? If any of the above applies to you, you are most welcome to join the Parish Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) programme which will run in the Parish Hall at St. Teilo’s on Wednesday evenings at 6pm beginning on Wednesday, October 7th . Please come along and discover more. Attendance does not commit you to completing the programme but is designed to allow you to reflect on God’s call for you. (The Parish Hall is accessed from the back of the Church building, between the Church and the Priest’s House.) Enrolment forms for the RCIA programme are now available at the back of both Churches.

On Tuesday, October 8th, a new Branch of the Society For The Protection Of Unborn Children – SPUC - is being launched in Cardiff. The launch will be at 7.30pm on that day and will take place at the Oratory, Swinton Street, Cardiff. The event will enable you to learn more, make new friends and be faithful to Catholic teaching. The Parish Rosary Prayer Group normally meets on the last Thursday of each month at 2.00pm in Ty Mair, 19 Heol y Waun CF14 1LB at the junction of Heol Gabriel and College Road. ( Please note, that due to holidays the group will meet a week early this month ) The group members have intercessory prayer, read and discuss the following Sunday's Gospel, pray the Rosary, pray the 3 o'clock prayer and the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and have a cuppa! The next meeting takes place on Thursday, September 17th . All are welcome to attend.

The Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows is celebrated on Tuesday, September 15th and at 7pm that day Archbishop Mark will be celebrating Mass in the Sanctuary on B5 at UHW. In the Mass, His Grace will bless the beautiful new Tabernacle and carved statues of the Good Shepherd and the Welcoming Virgin Mary. All hospital staff and supporters of the hospital are encouraged to attend this important celebration of Mass, in support of the Church’s presence and ministry within the hospital.

This weekend Canon Eddie O’Connell will be celebrating Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes on Saturday evening and hearing confessions before Mass. Mgr. Reardon will be celebrating the two Sunday Masses at St. Teilo’s. We welcome them both as they lead us in our Sunday worship. On the final Sunday of September, while Canon is in Lourdes, a member of the Verona Fathers will celebrate all three weekend Masses and make the missionary appeal for the Comboni Missionaries (known more collegially as the Verona Fathers.

With Canon away for the next few weeks, there will be no weekday Mass at St. Teilo’s and Our Lady of Lourdes. St. Teilo’s will be open each day for people to spend time in private prayer. Many thanks to the small group of volunteers who are facilitating the Church opening by agreeing to open and lock the Church each day. Weekday Mass is available in our neighbouring churches: Nazareth House (access to the chapel is through the door on Colum Road, lift assisted access is via the convent entrance) – Mass is celebrated at 10am at Nazareth House on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. (No Mass on Wednesday). St. Joseph’s – Mass is celebrated at St. Joseph’s at 9.15am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 7pm on Wednesday. The Three Churches – Mass is celebrated in the 3 churches as follows: Monday at 9.30am at St. Brigid’s, Tuesday at 9.30am at Christ the King, Wednesday at 9.30am at St. Paul’s, Thursday at 9.30am at Christ the King, Friday at 9.30am at St. Paul’s, Saturday at 9.30am at St. Brigid’s. St. Mary of the Angels and Holy Family – Mass is at 9.30am on Monday, Tuesday and Friday at St. Mary’s, at 6pm on Wednesday at St. Mary’s and at 9.30am on Thursday at Holy Family.
