On Sunday 7th July we welcomed Archbishop Mark to the parish to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with the parish candidates.
A wonderful celebration, some photos of the event are below.

During the month of November, we will pray for the Faithful Departed at Mass every day. We will remember especially those included on the November Dead List in Church. Envelopes and sheets for your family’s Holy Souls’ list and your donation to the priest are available at the back of the Church. They can be handed in to the sacristy, dropped into the presbytery or placed in the collection plate. If you are unable to go to the Church, you can email your list of the deceased to whitchurch@cardiffmenevia.org
A plenary indulgence, applicable to the souls in Purgatory, is granted when you visit a church on November 2n . While visiting the church or oratory, you are required to say one Our Father and the Apostles’ Creed in addition to having the other requirements for a plenary indulgence - the interior disposition of complete detachment from sin, even venial sin; have sacramentally confessed their sins (one confession will cover a number of indulgences); receive the Holy Eucharist; and pray for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff. A partial indulgence may be obtained by visiting a cemetery and praying for the departed on any day from the 1st to the 8th of November. The indulgence can be gained each day by visiting a cemetery between November 1st and November 8th
Monday is the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. The Church gathers in solemn prayer for the souls in Purgatory and the Liturgy expresses this clearly. Mass is celebrated in purple and flowers are removed from the altar and sanctuary. There will be Mass on All Souls Day at St. Teilo’s at 10am and at Our Lady of Lourdes at 6pm. The Mass readings and prayers for the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed – All Souls are on page 187 of the Parish Mass Book.
Each Tuesday evening, the parish has an hour of silent Adoration at St. Teilo’s from 7pm to 8pm. The primary intention for the period of Adoration is vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
Rest in Peace Please pray for those who have died recently, especially, Frank Prendergast, Brian Bryant and John McLaughlin, all of whom were long standing and faithful members of the Parish. Frank’s Funeral Mass is at St. Teilo’s on Wednesday, November 4th at Midday, John’s Funeral Mass is at St. Teilo’s on Thursday, November 5th at 2.00pm. Brian’s funeral is still being arranged. Please also pray for those whose anniversaries occur at this time: Bishop Daniel Mullins, Fr. Donal Gillespie, Fr. Michael Ronan, Fr. Baptism Preparation Course The next Baptism Preparation Course takes place at St. Teilo’s Hall on Monday, November 19th and completes on Monday, November 26 th at 7pm. Both sessions will last around an hour. All those who wish to have their child baptised need to attend the course before the Baptism. RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults The RCIA programme continues in the Parish Hall at St. Teilo’s on Wednesday evenings at 6pm. Please come along and discover more. Attendance does not commit you to completing the programme but is designed to allow you to reflect on God’s call for you. (The Parish Hall is accessed from the back of the Church building, between the Church and the Priest’s House.)
Parish Christmas Bazaar The Parish Christmas Bazaar will take place in St. Teilo’s Hall on Saturday, November 14th , 11 am - 1.15pm, and also on Sunday November 15th after mass, entry is free. There will be homemade jams and chutneys, hand kitted items, handmade cards, Piety stall, tombola, Refreshments, and more... (please see the poster below)
Walk and Talk Due to the clocks going back this weekend and the darker nights the Walk and Talk group will meet at the earlier time of 2pm every Wednesday at the Scott Memorial Lighthouse Roath Park. If anybody would like to join the group, please contact Carole on 07747 562847.
Can you bake a cake that would make Mary Berry proud? Whip up a jam that would make Paddington Bear smile? Or create chutneys so delicious that even Santa would come back for seconds? If so, we need YOU! We are looking for kind-hearted parishioners to donate homemade cakes, jams and chutneys for our Christmas Bazaar at St Teilo’s. Every donation, however big or small, will help make our bazaar a success. So, dust off your mixing bowls, warm up those ovens and get those preserving pans bubbling! If your culinary talents are more “stir and hope” than “Bake Off champion”, don't worry — shop-bought donations are welcome too! Every jar, every cake, and every contribution is greatly appreciated. Please let us know if you can help. Together, we can make this Christmas Bazaar a truly delicious success! Please speak to the welcomers after any Mass
