The members of the Hereford Deanery invite all parishioners of the Archdiocese to a Horizons of Hope talk called “Human Fraternity: The Church's Message to a Divided World” by Cardinal Michael Fitzgerald on Thursday, June 27th at 7.00pm at St. Francis Xavier Church, Hereford.
Cardinal Michael Fitzgerald M.Afr., OBE is the former head of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, having worked both in the Vatican and in the Middle East. Before the talk, the Cardinal will also celebrate Mass at 6.00pm at St Francis Xavier Church, Hereford
During the month of November, we will pray for the Faithful Departed at Mass every day. We will remember especially those included on the November Dead List in Church. Envelopes and sheets for your family’s Holy Souls’ list and your donation to the priest are available at the back of the Church. They can be handed in to the sacristy, dropped into the presbytery or placed in the collection plate. If you are unable to go to the Church, you can email your list of the deceased to whitchurch@cardiffmenevia.org
Clothes donations for the SVP – Next Weekend The Parish St. Vincent De Paul (SVP) Conference undertakes a monthly collection of clothing for the SVP Charity Shop. Clean, good quality clothing, books and toys are welcome. Donations may be left outside the confessionals at the rear of St. Teilo’s next weekend, November 8th, and on the weekend of the Second Sunday of each month. Please ensure that donations are brought to the Church only on the specified Sundays, as we do not want the Church to become cluttered during the week. Thank you from the parish SVP
Baptism Preparation Course The next Baptism Preparation Course takes place at St. Teilo’s Hall on Monday, November 19th and completes on Monday, November 26 th at 7pm. Both sessions will last around an hour. All those who wish to have their child baptised need to attend the course before the Baptism. RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults The RCIA programme continues in the Parish Hall at St. Teilo’s on Wednesday evenings at 6pm. Please come along and discover more. Attendance does not commit you to completing the programme but is designed to allow you to reflect on God’s call for you. (The Parish Hall is accessed from the back of the Church building, between the Church and the Priest’s House.)
Walk and Talk The Walk and Talk group will meet at 2pm every Wednesday at the Scott Memorial Lighthouse Roath Park. If anybody would like to join the group, please contact Carole on 07747 562847.
Next weekend there will be the annual retiring collection for the Archdiocesan Sick and Retired Clergy Fund The fund makes a vital contribution to the cost of providing our priests with a secure and dignified retirement. Donating is one way in which we can simply say ‘thank you’ for their years of service.
A plenary indulgence, applicable to the souls in Purgatory, is granted when you visit a church on November 2n . While visiting the church or oratory, you are required to say one Our Father and the Apostles’ Creed in addition to having the other requirements for a plenary indulgence - the interior disposition of complete detachment from sin, even venial sin; have sacramentally confessed their sins (one confession will cover a number of indulgences); receive the Holy Eucharist; and pray for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff. A partial indulgence may be obtained by visiting a cemetery and praying for the departed on any day from the 1st to the 8th of November. The indulgence can be gained each day by visiting a cemetery between November 1st and November 8th
Monday is the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. The Church gathers in solemn prayer for the souls in Purgatory and the Liturgy expresses this clearly. Mass is celebrated in purple and flowers are removed from the altar and sanctuary. There will be Mass on All Souls Day at St. Teilo’s at 10am and at Our Lady of Lourdes at 6pm. The Mass readings and prayers for the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed – All Souls are on page 187 of the Parish Mass Book.
Can you bake a cake that would make Mary Berry proud? Whip up a jam that would make Paddington Bear smile? Or create chutneys so delicious that even Santa would come back for seconds? If so, we need YOU! We are looking for kind-hearted parishioners to donate homemade cakes, jams and chutneys for our Christmas Bazaar at St Teilo’s. Every donation, however big or small, will help make our bazaar a success. So, dust off your mixing bowls, warm up those ovens and get those preserving pans bubbling! If your culinary talents are more “stir and hope” than “Bake Off champion”, don't worry — shop-bought donations are welcome too! Every jar, every cake, and every contribution is greatly appreciated. Please let us know if you can help. Together, we can make this Christmas Bazaar a truly delicious success! Please speak to the welcomers after any Mass
The Parish Piety Stall at St. Teilo’s has a wide range of Christmas Cards and Advent Calendars now available for purchase. Why not pay a visit to the stall before or after Mass or during the week. A reminder that payment can be made in cash, via the wall box at the back of the church, or by card at the Electronic Donation machine at the back of the church.
